Putting California into context: If it were its own country, it would be the world's sixth largest economy. Only the United States, as a whole, and the European Union, China, Japan, Germany and the U.K. beat California's economy. In terms of sheer size, California is the third largest U.S. state — 1,240 kilometers (770 miles) from top to bottom, and 400 kilometers (249 miles) wide — and it's also the number-one most populated.
The AMGEN Tour of California is clearly America's premier gift to global professional cycling and the many fans in North America and abroad, but it is also a near perfect embodiment of how cycling has grown, is growing, and is adored in its many forms in the U.S.A.
It seems only fitting, then, that a cycling event of this magnitude, and in this place, should get its own T-shirt design.
Also: Whether you live in California and/or are able to race the ATOC or not, you can get yourself one of these T-shirts.
